Capturing the founder’s business philosophy

Motherson

Situation

A fast-growing Indian automotive supplier had completed several international acquisitions that quadrupled its size in a few year's time. As a result, it had suddenly become a global company, supplying to all the world's major carmakers.

Problem

The automotive sector is one of the most demanding industries to supply to when it comes to safety and sustainability. Existing customers who had visited the company's plants had enormous trust in the supplier. But now it supplied to customers all over the world who did not know the company yet.

Solution

Together with the founder and the management, we articulated the purpose and philosophy by which the company was creating enduring value for all its stakeholders. This philosophy was expressed in a powerful manifesto, which became the spearhead of all global leadership communication with all stakeholders. We then entered into a long-term relationship with the company to support the founders in continuously spreading the vision and philosophy to its growing number of customers, investors, employees and communities.

Impact

Since its inception in 1975 as a small Indian wire-making company, the company always had the dream of becoming a large, trusted, global organisation. Today, more than 45 years later, the company has seen phenomenal growth and is a USD 20.8 billion group, present in 41 countries across 5 continents, serving all major automotive OEMs.
